In the endless Chicago winter, coats can be the only way to present any sort of fashion personality to the outside world. Also, when I don't feel like getting primped up in the winter to do anything, my coat serves to shield unsuspecting strangers (or non-strangers) from my winter uniform for running errands (whatever I woke up in, plus layers).  As the 2012 pre-fall collections trickle in, I have found myself gravitating to the array of beautiful coats.  For the full collections and reviews by Vogue.com click on the designer's name.
